Diving in Winter - Addicted to Scuba Diving!!

Here is the view in the morning. If this view does not stop you going for diving, CONGRATULATIONS. You are officially proved as addicted to Scuba Diving. 😆 Well, we were questioning to ourselves "a bit" on the way. At least, we were sensible enough to call our students who were going to have their Dive 1 & 2 for Open Water Diver Course. After a little chat, we postponed their dives. 😊 First Open Dives are very important I believe. If it is not FUN, divers do not want to continue diving in UK. 

 We found a student a few weeks back in the dive site. It was one of the coldest week this year. He was walking down the cafe in BARE FEET!!! 😱 In WETSUITS!!!! Unbelievable!!! 😱 That was not right. That was not safe. I saw him with an instructor in a new nice drysuits on table together, having briefing about Open Water Diver Course Dives. I was in SHOCK!!!
When I was feeling cold in Drysuits, those basic wetsuits is obviously not enough. Water temperature was 5C degree. In fact, we used to use the same set of wetsuits in Malta. When water temperature hit 12C degree, we did not book dives unless the divers had drysuits because it would be too cold to dive in wetsuits even with 2 layers of them. When the water and the air temperature is so cold, you have to postpone the diving or hire drysuits for safety. It is the responsibility of instructors because students do not have enough knowledge to say "no".

 When divers are already well experienced, that is our own responsibility to decide if we go into the water or not. Well, I had to admit I was crazy enough to go diving on that day!! Gosh!! That was COLD!!! My fingers were nearly having frost bites!!! It was no one else's fault. It was purely my insanity. 😂😂 But! The dive was NICE!!! 😂😂😂

Hollis - No Limit - Strength & Comfort for Drysuits

Hollis BTR-500 Drysuits Scuba diving...adventure in the Water World. Some of us may only dive in tropical warm water with wetsuits, but some of us are hard-core diver enough to enjoy cold water diving with drysuits. 4C degree water temperature may sound very cold, but if you are equipped & prepared for it, cold water diving can be quite fun. In UK, usually water is clearer in winter. It can be much better diving than in summer, in fact. Drysuits will become crucial for cold water diving. Let me introduce some Hollis Drysuits here. Hollis Drysuits in UK, unfortunately, did not have great start. Quality of the suits was not quite there and many suits had leaks after a few dives. Customer service was very poor just because of their internal problems. Being Good Diver is not about Certificate. Let's Go Diving!

All divers start from the basic diving certification called Open 1st Scuba Dive Lesson. All starts from here! Water Scuba Diver (SDI) or Open Water Diver (PADI) or equivalent. This certificate let you go scuba diving all over the world to the maximum depth 18m. Many divers stay with this level, enjoying beautiful coral reef and marine creatures, etc. Colours still stay well above 18m, so most dives will be nice and relaxing.  What's the next level? Advanced Adventure Diver (SDI) or Advanced Open Water Diver (PADI) or equivalent certificate will let you go diving maximum 30m deep, giving you more chance to go scuba diving. It won't be colourful like shallow diving but when there are ship wrecks at that depth or something else to see, you will not miss the opportunity.
